Strong Customer Authentication
The Strong Customer Authentication requirements of the 2nd Payment Services Directive (PSD2) of the European Union (2015/2366/EU) will become mandatory from September, 2019.
In line with the directive, the internet banking service [UniCredit eBanking] operates with a two-step authentication process for your security. Beside your permanent username and password, our system also uses a One Time Password – related to your actual transaction or login – to properly identify you.
You can choose from the below authentication methods:
mToken
You can generate One Time Password – consisting of 6 numbers – for your logins and payment transactions in the „GENERATE TOKEN” function in our Mobile Application Services [UniCredit mBanking].
SMS authentication
If you do not have UniCredit Mobile Application, you will receive a One Time Password – generated by us – in an SMS text message for each login and payment transaction in the [UniCredit eBanking] service. The message will always be sent to your phone number registered in our system.
Hardware Token
If you use hardware Token, you can generate a One Time Password – consisting of 6 numbers – for each login and payment transaction in the [UniCredit eBanking] service.
